Unfortunately the parasitic hoarders of wealth strategically keep our children and future oppressed by underfunding our public schools, and paying our teachers a pittance of what they deserve.
UPS Strike v. Yellow Trucknig Company's suppression of a Strike
Successful Organizing and threat of a strike gave the UPS workers a Huge Win, for some a 35%+ pay increase, and better working conditions of mandating AC in all Trucks. Compare this to the halting of a strike for the Yellow trucking company truckers, did nothing but gave the exploiting owners of Yellow trucking a few more years of running the company into the ground with record revenue, all for it to fail and for them to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, leavintg thousands of workers with $0 in their Pension funds.
Hotel Workers Strike in Los Angeles
Hotel workers are some of the lowest paid people in all of Los Angeles, and this wave of working class solidarity is allowing them to organize and flex their might. They're demanding a bump in pay from ~$12-15 to $20-25/hr to keep up with the incredibly high cost of living in California.
Writers and Actors Strike against Hollywood
For over a century Hollywood has been producing wonderful stories about the little guy winning against insurmountable odds. Now in real life the little guy isthe thousands of writers, actors and production staff helping make our favorite movies and TV shows. The corporate profiteers are the evil force of exploitation that are looking to steal as much of the intelligence, hard work and likeness of the folks actually producing these stories.
These are only some of the stories around the working class movement in 2023. In all cases we have to support our striking brothers and sisters. We can't cross the picket lines, or show up to replace a striking a worker at a job so as to not undermine the power that withholding labor allows. Together we're strong, and it may be team for a general strike to move closer to a better tomorrow.
