When push comes to shove, confronted with crisis is the only test to measure a politician’s commitment to the cause, since based on their reaction the constituents can assess whether their demands are being prioritized or not. In the current case for LA District Attorney George Gascon, the constituent can precisely assess where his loyalties lie, with the people or his political allies, based on how he has reacted to murder of Frederick Holder on June 23, 2021, at the hands of two sheriff deputies, Christopher Conger, Javier Fierros, and Jackie Rojas. The verdict: the DA will not charge these deputies; so, no justice for Holder. Is there peace though?
The official KNOCK LA statement from the DA explains, “We know that this is not the news that the friends and family of Mr. Holder wanted to hear today. Their loss remains immeasurable. We can assure the public that the investigation was extensive, and our analysis was thorough. We do not take these decisions lightly. Proof beyond a reasonable doubt is a very high standard. This declination does not mean that they have been absolved of any moral or civil responsibility.” They further explain, “the deputies acted in lawful self-defense and defense of a third party when they fired their weapons, reasonably believing, based on a totality of the circumstances, that deadly force was necessary to defend against a deadly threat.”

So, what do we make of this situation, do we believe this statement up front, or do we question and rage to find more ?
Well in this KNOCK LA article on the case, it explains there remains unjustified facts to the case, details that should demand an investigation from the DA and charges brough to the deputies, but the DA seem to have feign to mentioned. Such as the article mentions, the deputies “violated several departmental policies during the shooting. They failed to wear body cameras, engaged in a pursuit outside of procedure, and opened fire on an occupied vehicle on a crowded freeway on-ramp.”

So, we are left with many questions that need to be answered, regardless action must be taken, and a new reflection must be performed on the “star” DA, who promised to perform sweeping “law enforcement” reform. Is this the right move, or is this the performance of another betrayer, who lied to his constituents and protects the law over the people?
