Over the past 2 days LAPD in Los Angeles' neighborhood of Echo Park, spent more than a Half a Million Dollars to jail protesters and homeless people to "clear out" the park.
The City of LA spent over $646,246 just on LAPD payroll for the two days of protests at Echo Park. This is a conservative estimate based on the number of LAPD officers witnessed. Unfortunately, the City of LA does not provide the public with the number of law enforcement deployed.-Kenneth Mejia, LA Comptroller Candidate
Think about the waste that went into putting poor people, and those trying to protect poor people in jail. All this is happening while car jackings, muggings, assaults and rape in the city of LA go un-investigated. Why, because they don't have enough officers to go after every criminal. The cops are a waste of society's resources, and only go towards oppressing poor and working class people.
