The Kids are not Alright: How "Israel" treats their Palestinian youths

Youth everywhere deal with the growing pains dealt on them by society, most the punitive consequence is soft and not permanent, but when you’re a youth coming from marginalization and the state views you as a ‘latent’ criminal’, the consequences are enhanced, nothing close to soft or short. In occupied Palestine, the settler state of Isarel has no intention of being merciful with Palestinian youth. Instead, they want to socialize as a complete generation of youth to be afraid of the state, and permanently hindered from even living as normal citizens. This fact is undoubtedly real when the data says, “More than 600 Palestinian children were kept under house arrest by Israeli occupation forces in 2022, according to the Commission for Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs, a prisoners’ rights body”. “Israel” is one of the few nations where marginalized youths are not tried at juvenile courts, but instead at military courts, as stated in their Military Order 1644; these courts do not even assess Palestinian youths as children, once they reached the age of 16 years old. The court rules them as adults, vulnerable to any kind of ruling reserved for an adult, even potential sentencing to adult prisons or worse, despite the same state rules the age threshold for an Israeli youth to be considered an adult is 18 years old. It was even worse before 2009, when this same order considered Palestinian youths as young as 12 to be old enough to endure the charges of an ‘adult’.

“At least 958 Palestinian children were wounded by Israeli forces or settlers across the occupied territories in the same period, and over 750 have been arrested or detained.”

There is more to say about the situation, but the point of bringing up this occurrence is to remind everyone of the blatant totalitarian occupation on Palestine. Settler supremacy reigns over the lives of the Palestinians, from their youth to their adult members, communities are being torn apart by a segregated wall, military imprisoning youths, and the facilitated poverty and exploitation.

Again, Israel is not a real state, it’s a settler-colony, and Palestine is occupied by it. This is why the Palestinas keeps struggling and shouting against their enemies, intifada !
